Energy Saving Circulation Pump
Not all hot tubs contain circulation pumps! Here’s why yours should:
- Energy efficiency: It makes the hot tub more energy efficient.
- Cleaner water: The pump constantly circulates and filters the water, keeping it clean.
- Consistent temperature: It helps distribute heated water throughout the hot tub, maintaining a comfortable temperature.
- Reduced wear-and-tear: It reduces strain on therapy pumps.
Understanding the Difference Between 13amp and 32amp Hot Tubs
The difference between 13amp and 32amp hot tubs is primarily related to their electrical requirements and performance capabilities.
13amp Hot Tubs
- Commonly referred to as “plug and play” models, these hot tubs can be plugged into an external IP65 13amp power socket.
- If you don’t already have an appropriate socket, expect to pay around £150 for installation by a qualified electrician.
- While many believe that a standard 13amp socket on the ring main is adequate, it’s recommended to have the power outlet on a separate circuit. This is because the extra load on your main household circuit could lead to tripping your electricity, especially if multiple appliances are in use simultaneously.
- Since a 13amp hot tub can draw a maximum of 13 amps at any given time, it can only operate either the heater or the jets, but not both simultaneously. This limitation is a crucial factor to consider when evaluating your options.
32amp Hot Tubs
- Installing a 32 amp hot tub requires a more intricate electrical setup and a dedicated circuit to avoid overload and ensure safety.
- A qualified electrician typically charges around £500 for this installation, which must be completed before the delivery of your 32 amp tub.
- While the extra expense may seem discouraging, a 32 amp hot tub offers advantages such as improved jet performance and the capability to run both the heater and jets at the same time.
